The Regatta Association is delighted to get the 2021 Regatta off the ground despite the Government not being able to set us free back on 21 June as everyone had hoped. To put on the event, and to make it as safe as possible for everyone, we’ve had to make some adjustments to previous years. Despite that there’s plenty of fun, new experiences and social enjoyment to be had by all. So welcome to Brightlingsea Regatta 2021.
For this year it’s Saturday only, but it’s a fun-packed one-day programme offering the adventure of getting out on the water in one form or another, a first-time ever pirate panto on a smack, the wonderful sight of traditional boats parading through the Creek. There’s food and drink being served at the clubs, jazz on the Hard, shanty singers around the waterfront and stalls to browse around. There are competitions ranging from duck racing and crabbing to the best dressed beach hut – yes, with prizes to be won.
We will all enjoy it all the more if we look out for each other and stay safe. You will see COVID-19 signs dotted around and marshals will be on duty on the Hard and Promenade keeping an eye on social spacing. Please heed the warnings.
The Regatta Association wishes you a great day ahead and hopes you find it delivers for you everything it promises. Next year we look forward to returning to a two-day event highlighted by a truly spectacular firework display. In the meantime there’s lots to be enjoyed this year and we wish you a great family day out.
PLEASE NOTE: All bars will be table service only in line with current Government guidance.
