Brightlingsea Regatta offers a host of delicious food and drink options. In addition there are other great places to get food in Brightlingsea if you would like to take a five minute walk up to the town.
Here is just a taster of what you will find within the regatta area during 2020.
Brightlingsea Sailing Club – will be open to the public throughout the regatta. On Saturday from 9.30am the bacon butties will be on the go on the BBQ. Teas/coffees sandwiches and cakes will be available from the galley throughout the weekend. The bar will open at 11am, the BSC cadets will be running their famous popcorn and candy floss stall and the BBQ will switch to delicious burgers and sausages. From 5pm the club goes into chill out mood with a performance by Brightlights, a pre-fireworks BBQ and Beach Party, a fire show at 9pm and of course the spectacular firework display at 9.30pm, which takes place directly opposite the club. On Sunday there are Bacon Butties on the beach from 9.30am and the galley will be open again too. From 11am the bar will be open and from midday onwards the BBQ and Beach Party will once again be in full swing.
Colne Yacht Club – will be open to the public throughout the regatta. On Saturday things kick off with breakfast from 8am to 10am. From noon until 11pm the Pimms and Real Ale bars and the main club bar will be open and the BBQ will be running from noon as well. At 7pm on Saturday evening CYC is hosting a Fireworks dinner which can be booked through the CYC office on 01206 302594. On Sunday the Real Ale Bar, main club bar and BBQ will all be open from midday and on Sunday afternoon the club will be serving a delicious afternoon tea.
University Community Sailing Club – will be open to the public on both days of the regatta. The bar will be open throughout the weekend and there will be delicious food offerings throughout the weekend too.
The Coach House Coffee Shop – Open from 10am to 4pm daily and offering a fabulous array of home made food, the Coach House is always a popular destination for anyone visiting the hard area with an attractive outside courtyard and a regularly changing gallery display inside.
No 1 Harbour Square – set on the Marina concourse this super wine bar and bistro is open from 10.30am to 11.30pm on Saturday and 10.30am to 6pm on Sunday. A great place to relax in the sunshine and enjoy a refreshing cocktail whilst watching the boats go by.
The Yachtman’s Arms – one of Brightlingsea’s best loved traditional pubs with a very well deserved reputation for excellent food, a lovely beer garden and a welcoming atmosphere, the Yachtman’s will be open throughout the regatta.
Dragon 8 – Chinese Take Away will be open for lunch and dinner on both days.
Lido Cafe – The recently refurbished cafe at Brightlingsea Lido will be open both days as will the fabulous open air swimming pool, so you can enjoy a cooling dip before or after your cuppa!
Bateman’s Cafe – a walk along the Promenade to inspect the beach huts entered into the Best Dressed Beach Hut Competition wouldn’t be complete without a pit stop at Bateman’s Cafe (currently in their temporary mobile unit in the Promenade Way car park) for a well deserved snack or ice cream. You will also be able to take a sneak peak at the new Bateman’s Cafe which is rapidly approaching completion ready for the summer holidays.
Waterside Fish & Chips – this Brightlingsea institution will be open both days of the regatta offering wonderful traditional fish and chips and yummy ice creams. There’s nothing better than fish and chips eaten from the wrappers with the sun on your face and the sea breeze in your hair.
Regatta Food Stalls – We have a fabulous array of food and drink stalls attending the regatta offering everything from gourmet coffee, tea and hot chocolate, Caribbean food, cup cakes and candy floss to authentic Syrian food. The stalls are located along Waterside, at the Colne Yacht Club and at Brightlingsea Sailing Club.
