Artists & Crafters On The Trail 2021

Our 2021 Arts and Crafts Trail (click here for trail details) will open for bookings in early 2021. A full list of 2021 artists will be published in due course, but in the meantime here is a taste of the 2019 Artists and Crafters, many of whom will be returning again next  year.

2019 Arts & Crafts Trail Participants

The Essex Travelling Artists Book, an Environmental & Community Exhibition and the following artists:

Anne Potter – we are particularly excited to be hosting Anne’s work as she has not exhibited before. You will find her on the ground floor of Brightlingsea Sailing Club in the Cadet Room which will also be acting as a delightful breakout cafe area for the regatta weekend.



Bobby's Girl CraftsBobby’s Girl Crafts – Robina’s fun mix of hand made delights including textile art, jewellery and hand made bags will be found in the Arts & Crafts Marquee just outside Brightlingsea Sailing Club.



Brightlingsea Friday Art Group – Maggie Booker, Margaret Winter, Christine Pollock, Jean Hawkins, Pat Borstel, Jan Peck, Chrissie Gillies, Pauline Smith, June Mellor, Bob Walsh and Bob Goodenough will be exhibiting in the first floor Sail Loft at the University Community Sailing Club.

Charles Bran Papermaking – The extraordinary quality of the papers that Charles creates using natural fibres from plants such as Seaweed, Onion Skins, Rosemary, Bramble, Blackberry and Honeysuckle leaves, plus many other organic materials need to be seen to be appreciated. Check out his work in the Arts & Crafts Tent at Brightlingsea Sailing Club. More Info


Dedham Art Society  – Founded in 1967, the Dedham Art Society includes professional and amateur artists from all over Essex and Suffolk. Exhibiting during the regatta are Sally Howard, Lisa Cross, Marian Jones, Helen Morgans, Irena Masserrella, Jill Wilson, Julie Taylor-Lange and Jeannie McCarthy. Gazouki Sea Treasures – Gazouki’s Zoe Martin says of her work – “I enjoy giving a different purpose to what the ebbing of the tide leaves. I think of the journey an item has been on, and the journey it will go on to have with someone else.” Find Gazouki in the Arts & Crafts Tent at Brightlingsea Sailing Club.  More Info


JD Lock Wood Turning  – A life changing accident drove carpenter Jason Lock down an unexpected path. The resulting woodturnings are works of art, each unique and with it’s own story to tell. Find Jason in the Arts & Crafts Tent at Brightlingsea Sailing Club. More Info



Colne Creatives – A network allowing local Essex artists to exhibit together by forming informal collaborations for particular events.  We share ideas, costs, publicity, studio space on an ad-hoc basis,  and a passion for showing our work. Artists exhibiting on the Regatta Art Trail will be Nicky Sheales Ceramics, Margaret Winter and Julie Taylor-Lange Paintings. They will be based in the Arts & Crafts Tent and the first Estuary Lounge at Brightlingsea Sailing Club More Info Julie Taylor-Lange and Nicky Sheales


Little Boat Gifts and Olivia Goddard Designs – Brightlingsea locals will already be familiar with the wonderful Little Boat Gifts shop in New Street and the work of proprietor Olivia, who is also the designer and publisher of a stunning rang of greetings cards. She can be found in the Arts & Crafts Tent at Brightlingsea Sailing Club. More info at Little Boat Gifts and Olivia Goddard Designs.

Mae Kandoo – Victoria Walsh creates colourful and unique gifts and decor items using vintage and up cycled textiles. A great support of Winterfest, Victoria will be exhibiting in the first floor Sail Loft at the University Community Sailing Club. More Info


Nick Bamford Wildlife Portraits – Nick says of himself that he is a “Wildlife artist,  pet portraitist and general pencil pusher.” The intricate detail in his large scale (poster size) works is truly extraordinary. Find him in the Dining Room at Colne Yacht Club. More Info


Sarah Singleton Portraits – Sarah loves to paint portraits. Ten years ago after a break in creating she picked up her brushes and started to paint again. Sarah says “For me it is all about capturing the likeness and conveying the personality of the subject.” Why not come and speak with her in the Estuary Lounge on the first floor at Brightlingsea Sailing Club about commissioning and painting of that special person or pet in your life. Wivenhoe PrintWorks – A group of artists have set up a printmaking workshop in Wivenhoe bringing together both established and would-be printmakers. As well as selling their work, they are also seeking potential printers to come along, find out what is available and get involved. Artists exhibiting include Leslie Bell, Eliza Kentridge, Jean McNeil, Natalie Eldred, Jeannie McCarthy, John Wallett, Jay Hawk and Saskia Richmond.
